Oil painter · Portrait & figurative artist · Lake Havasu City, Arizona
Cynthia Jensen grew up in Utah, where an encouraging art teacher first recognized her gift. She continued studying pottery and oil painting through high school and enrolled as an art major at the University of Utah. After two years she chose to focus on marriage and raising a family, yet art remained a constant companion.
While living in Georgia she served as an art schoolteacher and was commissioned to paint a mural for her school. These years of balancing motherhood and creative work deepened her understanding of the very subjects she loves to paint: the quiet strength of women and the pure light of childhood.
Today Cynthia lives in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where the desert light and the waters of the Colorado River continue to inspire her. She is known for luminous oil paintings that celebrate generational bonds, the tenderness between mother and child, and moments of faith.
I am especially drawn to sacred subjects and the stories of faith. Whether painting a tender nativity, a portrait of the Savior, or a mother cradling her child, my desire is the same: to let light reveal not only form, but spirit.
Working primarily in oil, I layer color slowly, allowing the painting to breathe and the emotion to settle. The finished work is offered as a place of rest—a small window into peace, gratitude, and the beauty of ordinary holiness.
Cynthia’s paintings have been recognized in local competitions, including awards at Art at the Lake. She has participated in the Havasu Art Trail and continues to share her process and finished works through her YouTube channel and social media, offering encouragement to fellow artists and collectors alike.
She welcomes commissions for portraits and custom works that honor family, faith, and memory.
